Days 25-27, What we saw in Maine

Day 25
1 Aug 16
Drove today from Skowhegan, ME. to our next stop at
"The Narrows Too Campground Resort"
Notice I do not have a tree problem here!

Walked up the highway a bit and had lunch at this place.
This is what it looked like from the highway.

Day 26
2 Aug 16

Took a bus loop ride around Acadia National Park.  We could get on and off and travel around the loop.  Here we got off at a cove called Sand Beach.

This sand beach is a geologic rarity - one of the few cold-water, Shell-based sand beaches in the world.  Sand beaches are uncommon in Maine, because cold water traps gasses that disolve sea shells and most of the coast line consists of hard granite that erodes slowly.  There is Granite under the sand that was deposited here during the high and low tides which can be as much as a 10 ft. difference.  The sand could all be taken away during the next Hurricane.
We all went wading in the water.
This is the view from Sand beach of the Granite rocks.
We decided to walk the 1.5 mile trail to catch the buss at it's next stop.

Some people were actually climbing the Granite Rocks!

We tried to stay on the tops

We caught the buss again and stopped here for lunch.

Next we drove into the town of Bar Harbor
One of the Houses we saw on the way to Bar Harbor

This was also located in Bar Harbor for thoes who were thirsty!

After having Candy's Lasagna Dinner an Ice Cream truck came through the RV park, so we bought ice cream for our desert
.

Day 27
3 Aug 16

We drove to the top of Cadillac Mtn. to do the 3 mi walk down.

We bought a walking stick for Candy - It was a good purchase.

Rock markers are used to mark the trail for hikers.

We walked over a lot of these and larger bolders on the way down

Over bolders through the trees when we got closer to the bottom
The walk took us about 3 hours.

After our long hike and a short rest back at the RV park we headed out to see this light house

After seeing the lighthouse it was time for our first Maine Lobster dinner...

This place had very high ratings for eating Maine Lobster

Had to pay for them by the pound

I started with a 1.5 lb lobster and it was the best I ever had!
