Days 43,44 & 45 (Fri, Sat, Sun) 19-21 Aug 16

Day 43
Fri 19 Aug 16

The Space Shuttle Diccovery

It was amazing seeing the space shuttle up close
This is the Enola Gay - The B-29 that  On August 6, 1945, during World War II (1939-45), dropped the world’s first deployed atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima.
The Lockheed SR-71 "Blackbird" is a Long-range, Mach 3+ Strategic reconnaissance aricraft.

The SR-71 served with the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1998. A total of 32 aircraft were built; 12 were lost in accidents and none lost to enemy action.
The SR-71 has held the world record for the fastest air-breathing manned aircraft since 1976.
As usual we did not get to look at everything - never enough time!
Then we drove to MT. Vernon to spend the rest of the day

Mt. Vernon - Residence of George Washington

View of the Patomic River from the back of Mt. Vernon House
Here we are taking a short rest - All this Fun requires a lot of Walking!

Burial Site for George Washington and his Family Members

Day 44
Sat 20 Aug 16

Union Station - Today we rode the subway to this point to start our day.
Then we walked to the Capitol Bldg. To Try and get a tour.
This view is of the back entrance.
Each State had a statue - This was the one for Nevada

We were only in line for about 15 min and we got to go on a tour.

This is the Library of Congres
The Front view of the Capitol
Then we walked to see the White House - This is the North Lawn - The Back side
Here we are looking at the Front from the South Lawn - It is a lot farther away here!
But with my zoom Lens I get this shot of the Front of the White House.  Next we walked a few more blocks to the White House Museum and spent some time there.
From the White House Museum we came here and spent another 2-1/2 hours.

The Hope Diamond. - I had trouble getting a picture through the glass without light reflected from all of the diamods.  The picture does not do it justice.
We saw a lot more but ended up here with the Dinosours
A lot of skeletons Just Like This!

Day 45
Sun 21 Aug 16
