Day 78
Fri 23 Sep 16
|
Drove through the Yellowstone Park today. Went and watched Old Faithful Geyser go off. We were down wind and got wet with 1000 year old waters. Stopped at Fire Hole Falls. Stopped and watched Herds of Bison in the
fields and crossing the road. Watched
Elk in the field and later, one that walked just in front of our parked
cars. Went back
and watched it spout again 1- ½ hr. later, but from a different angle. Stopped at the fountain Paint Pots and walked
around the boardwalk. Went from there
and crossed the Continental Divide two times.
Got stuck in a hail storm for 20 – 30 min. Headed back to the RV Park and saw more Bison
and Elk. In the same places we saw them before.

Day 79

|
Drove into Yellowstone again today and
took northern loop on the east side.
West side road was closed. We saw more animals including Elk, Deer,
Bison, and Long Horn Sheep. We stopped
and walked the boardwalk paths at several points of interest. These included the Virginia Cascade, North Rim
of Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone upper and lower falls, lookout point and
others. Stopped at Tower Falls and had lunch there. Continued on to Mammoth Hot Springs. During
the trip to Mammoth Hot Springs we encountered a herd of Bison crossing and
running down the road past our truck. I
would say 6 or 7 hundred bison kept us in awe for 10 or 15 min as we sat in the
road and watched them all go by. At the
Mammoth Hot Springs there were Elk just roaming all around the little town
eating the green grass and crossing the road in front of us. Then on the way
back we stopped at the Artist’s
Paintpots and walked the boardwalk loop.

Nevada we entered the Pacific Time Zone.
Our Tour reservation was for 1:00 pm.
We used the extra time to watch a movie about the Park, buy postcards
and go to the 5th wheel for lunch. The tour lasted 1-1/2 hours and
was really great. We were glad we took
this tour as you can see from some of the pictures we took.
