Day 63
Thu 8 Sep 16
Drove to Mountain View, MO. and stayed in the Ozark Mountain Springs RV Park.
Stopped along the way when we crossed the Ohio River into Illinois and
drove into Fort Defiance Park to
view the Confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. Also where Lewis and Clark spent 6 days mapping
the rivers and learning to use their navigation equipment. Drove on to Mountain View where it started
raining as we set up in the RV Park. It was at this time that we discovered water flooding the 5th wheel
in the bathroom and bedroom. All we could do was to keep mopping it up with
towels for 45 min till the rain let up.
Then I went outside and discovered the edge of the roof had been scraped by a tree branch and the roof covering was torn open
in several spots. I used Gary’s white
duct tape to patch the 10 foot long tear.
Judy made TACOs for our dinner while Candy washed all the towels we used
mopping up the water. After dinner it
started more Thunder and Lightning and eventually started raining again. I checked for leaks and it appeared that the
tape job was holding for now.

| We are standing on the very tip of Illinois. In back of us is the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. |
 |
| This is the bridge we will cross nect to go from Illinois into Missouri across the Mississippi River. |
 |
| We saw a fire that turned out to be a framer burning his field. |
 |
| Here is the edge of the roof that I had to tape to keep all the water out. |
Day 64
Fri 9 Sep 16
 |
Drove to Marshfield, MO with a stop at
the Laura Ingalls Wilder home and museum.
While everyone stayed at the museum in Mansfield, MO. I went on to the
Camping World near Marshfield to find out what to do about the tear in the Roof
of the 5th wheel. Got more
tape to use for patching and called USAA to start a claim. Drove to the RV Express 66 Lot and joined
back with the others. Candy called Joyce
and she came to see the 5th wheel. After introducing Joyce to
everyone and talking for a while, we went to see Joyce’s place and see Janel
and Shelly. Visited there for a while
then went to get Pizza for dinner. Made plans for seeing the parade tomorrow and headed back to the RV
Park.
|
 |
| Howard built this bike to ride in the parade. It was fun to ride. |
