Day 71 and 72 (Fri and Sat - 16 & 17 Sep) Hershey, NE - Julesburg, CO - Chimney Rock, Scotts Bluff, Carhenge, and Fur Trade Museum

Day 71
Fri 16 Sep 16

Left North Platte Holiday RV Park at 8:30 am.  First side trip was to go see Hershey, NE.  It was a cool little town and had fun talking to some local women who worked in the telephone office. Took pictures of all the Hershey signs around town. Back on the road we crossed from Central Time into the Mountain Time zone and had to turn our clocks back 1 hour.  Next we turned south to the small town of Julesburg in Colorado.  Stopped at a little museum there and met a 92 year old man when he invited us to come in and see his collection of old cars and gas pumps.  We had a great time and then headed back to Nebraska to catch up with Gary and Judy at Chimney Rock Monument.

Locals  we found in the Trelephone Co. that Candy got to Quize about the Town of Hershey.

Left Hershey, NE and took another side trip to add Colorado to our  map.

92 Year old man and his favorite car.- one that he drove when he was young.

This is the reason we couldn't walk out closer to the Chimney Rock
Chimney Rock
Took pictures and went through the museum before heading for our RV Park and on to Scotts Bluff
We left our RV's at this RV Park and headed out to see Scotts Bluff

This is the Pass that the Oregon and 49er trailes went through

Across from the visitor center at Scotts Bluff they were doing a Controled Burn of the hill sides.

Day 72
Sat 17 Sep 16

Drove from N. Platte Holiday RV Park in Gering, NE. to Rapid City KOA just outside Rapid City, SD.  On the way we stopped to see “Carhenge” (the Stonehenge of the US) 3 miles north of Alliance, Nebraska. Then we took a 6 mile side trip to see the Museum of the Fur Trade in Chadron, NE.  Arrived at RV Park at 3:00 pm.

This is where they burried 3 foreign cars that someone tried to add to the Carheng sculpture. Since this was supposed to be a US version of Stonehinge - No foreign cars were allowed.
