Days 67,68,69 (Mon, Tue, Wed) 12,13,14 Sep

Day 67
Mon 12 Sep 16

Drove the scenic route today from Marshfield, MO to Pittsburg, KS.  First we went south down into Arkansas, then west into Oklahoma, and finally north into Kansas.  Drove an extra 100 mi. to pick up the states we needed for our maps. Drove from 8:00 am till 2:15 pm with one stop for lunch at Subway.  These old brick cylos are pretty neat.  Candy does a great job taking pictures from a moving Truck.
First we drive into Arkansas
And we kept going till we crossed into Oaklahoma....
Still going and we make it to Kansas
We were on The Old "Route 66" again for part of the day
I thought this was prety unique, seeing a Phillips 66 gas station on Route 66
We end the day with dinner and an after dinner glass of Port.  We brought the Port with us to share with our friends.  It was made by our Son, Greg Rooney and it was the best end to a long day.

Day 68
Tue 13 Sep 16

We drove out of Kansas and back into Missouri.  Seems like we just left Missouri Yesterday...?
But now we are at the AOK campground (Not quite the same quality as the "KOA" campgrounds) in St. Joseph, Mo..... Sometimes we had to backtrack a little to see the places we wanted to see.
This was an old hotel and now a museum.  It is where the Pony Express Office was located when it started.

The Pony Ecpress only lasted for 1-1/2 years due to the  trans-continental telegraph line connecting the east and west coasts. The last ride was on Oct. 24, 1861

Day 69
Wed 14 Sep 16

More old brick cylos - one with a tree growing out of it.  Today we drove from St. Joseph. Mo. through the lower corner of Iowa and into Nebraska.

Welcome to Iowa.  We were daydreaming when we crossed into Iowa so the picture had to be really quick.
Then it wasn't very long before we crossed into Nebraska
Decided to stop at the Missouri River Basin Lewis & Clark Center just after we crossed the Missouri River and entered Nebraska
Now we are continuing to our next RV Park in Grand Island, NE.
When you are looking for the RV Park and you come across a sign like this you start to worry a bit.
And then you see this sign and you really start to worry if your GPS is taking you the right way!

And then we see this sign and realize we never would have found it without the GPS...
